Welcome to Regardless, a visceral collection of works by self-taught Northampton artist Khari Worrell.
At its heart, this exhibition explores the pure act of persistence.
The title stands as a manifesto: to create, to exist, and to speak regardless of the noise, the pressure, or the internal anxieties that seek to quiet the creative voice. Bridging the gap between raw street aesthetics and the quiet introspection of the studio, Worrell's large-scale expressionist works turn the canvas into a space where emotion, memory, and imagination meet.
Worrell's practice relies on a philosophy of deconstruction. For a moment to be truly captured or an anxiety to be processed, the initial work must often be "destroyed" broken down so that raw energy can be transferred into it's final abstract form. Drawing deep inspiration from his upbringing and identity, the pieces here navigate the tension between sin and sanctity, the sacred and the profane.
Following recent micro-commissions for NN Nights and representation at Molasses Gallery & Influx Gallery, Regardless marks a significant evolution in Worrell's visual language.
Step in, embrace the distortion, and take your time moving the works.
